Original second re-read thoughts: Even though we are supplied with plenty of new information, much is left unanswered leaving the reader delirious with anticipation. He is really very good with the “looks” but I’m not sure he could pull off the really long hair that Barrons has.
Very very clever of me… All in all this was a pretty awesome read. She still keeps Barrons in the dark with things she should have told him in the first place to save them both from trouble.
I think I could describe Bloodfever as intense, fearless, brilliant, addictive, unputdownable and even then you wouldn’t know how awesome this book is. Pursued by Fae assassins, surrounded by mysterious figures she knows she cannot trust, Mac finds herself torn between kaern deadly and irresistible men: I hate when the plot is forced in this manner. I still think that Moning overdid it with the Pinky Rainbows act in Bloodfever. For most of the story Mac is suspended between her strange companion Jericho Barrons and the Fae prince V’lane and deeply mistrusts them both.

I did enjoy the plot quite a bit. This book introduced some great new characters and expanded some characters that were barely introduced in Darkfever.

The Fae world is getting wider, Moning gets us deeper into mkning lore which is very exciting. The author’s knack for introducing small amounts of information at a time, interspersed amongst the action, leads to a captivating experience.
And Barrons is, in my opinion, one of the best male characters ever written in the genre. That a story told in such a way would be understandable at all is amazing. For the next decade, she worked in insurance, where she wrote intercompany arbitrations and directed commercial litigation.
